still plugging away Once again I find myself rummaging through photos that I took last month, on our rapid run to the Yellowstone Country: But I guess that isn't so surprising since I've been sitting right here for almost a week now. Writing reports. Whilst three of my elk seasons have opened. And what precious words am I composing? Here's one of my latest paragraphs: "The 2005 harvest was 7% less than expected. Most of the difference was due to poor participation by doe/fawn hunters, with buck harvest being within 3% of expected numbers. Harvest of does and fawns was 14% less than expected because only 67% and 79% of the doe/fawn license holders in areas 60 and 61 bothered to use their licenses. Participation by doe/fawn hunters in Area 64 was more typical, at 86%. Harvests during 2006 and 2007 were each within 1% of predicted numbers." Ohhhh, joy. Fortunately that paragraph is more than halfway through the last report. Tomorrow (or today, actually, now) I may actually manage to leave the house. Snow and all. |
