working in the inn There should be an entire, long entry in this journal just about Teddy's lodge, the Old Faithful Inn. Actually, there should be at least two, one from our last trip up to this special place. But there aren't. And there's no time for one now, either. So this will have to do. Because there is at least one thing about that visit that I do not want to lose to the passage of time, and the frailty of human memory. This is the place we're talking about. Now inside the six-story lobby, scattered about on the second floor (and only the second floor) are a large handful of gorgeous, partner reading desks. We shared pudding cups at one of these desks during a quiet moment on our honeymoon. So, after our evening walk, the wife and I found ourselves with naught to do until bedtime. And we ended up whiling away a peaceful hour or more at one of those desks. Her with the day's crossword puzzle (whispering under the lampshade for help at least once), and me with some of the Outfit's routine paperwork. It's documented there, in my monthly work report to the Outfit: "9/28/2008 TW-LR-GA2-105 1hr DAR (at reading desk in Old Faithful Inn)" Documented for perpetuity, I assume. |
