an invitation
It's one of those dreams you carry in the back of your mind. Like when NASA sends a recruiter to your tiny class and asks each of you to apply for this new type of astronaut that they're creating, these "mission specialists". Because you have the rare skills that they're looking for.
Okay, maybe not that big a dream. But this one has been in my head for about seven years. And just like the NASA dream came true, (but I never applied... they said they wanted 20/20 vision...) so can this one.
Out of the blue, a phone call. With an offer.
More of a solution to his problems, rather than an offer to fulfill a hope of mine.
But there it is, just the same.
So, now the questions arise. Logistically, can I manage the time? And will the Outfit allow it (they have veto authority on all outside employment for us).
And can I do it?
It may be time to put up, or shut up.
