A long day.

Too much to detail here, now. Need sleep. So, to summarize:

Four leks checked, with sage grouse strutting on three of them.

Finding a few other signs of spring, despite the recent snow and mud. Pronghorn bucks proudly sporting new horns...

And the first wildflowers.

Phlox, of course.

Then scouting north, to the mountains, to see how much snow was left on our browse transect.

The afternoon started with baking of chocolate chip cookies. A request of youngest son, who came home unexpectedly to do laundry last night, and requested cookies for this, his final Finals week.

Hopes for a rest later in the afternoon were dashed by an impromptu barbeque in the park, with eldest son, his girlfriend and her family.

Soon followed by a phone call from youngest son. Which led to a rapid drive thirty-some miles east. And a less rapid return, at dusk, following his turquoise Pontiac.
