close to heaven

Only two leks checked this morning, with grouse only on one.

Typical of mornings following a full moon. After strutting all night long, the grouse are tired and ready to leave the lek at first light. Which left me with naught to do but head further into the desert, scouting roads for the next few mornings.

Yeah, I know. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.

All the way to here.

So close,

and yet so far.

It'll be a while before the crossing thaws out enough to use. And yeah, I could walk, and have, but not when it is still well below freezing and blowing strong and steady. Need a little more Spring before I'd do that.

For fun, anyway.
