back in the desert

Not a bad morning. Gorgeous moonset, and decent sunrise.

Even if we were in the gas patch.

Five leks checked, with grouse on four of those. We weren't the only ones out watching grouse strut in the early morning light.

Snow has been disappearing fast with temperatures in the sixties, allowing us access deep into the desert.

And filling streambeds normally empty with rushing torrents of water.

If only there were a way to slow those streams down, to make that water last until summer.

Another seven leks were visited, just to show where they were, and check development around them. Then home to jump start the old Dodge, make lunch, and nap the afternoon away.

And the new truck that started the day with less than 300 miles on the odometer...

Had over 500 when the day was through.
