cold air auction

So. When your day-long meeting finally draws to a close, does everybody go outside into a freezing parking lot for a horse auction?

No?

We did.

Both were wild horses, captured on the open range and then broke and trained by prison inmates.

Jack, on the left, was born and trapped in Nevada, and went for $200. Bidding stopped at $150, but the high bidder offered another $50 if the auctioneer, a stout fellow in charge of the inmate horse program, would hop up and show that Jack would behave and hold the weight.

He did.

And Jack did.

And so he was sold.

Buddy, on the right, was a native of our state, and went for $250.

Npbody asked to see him ridden.
