a technological friday

Once again, I am learning how easy it is to not write here...

Today?

Largely spent with a computer, adding much awaited GIS software. To finally get everything installed, stomping out viruses and bugs and all, only to find the one person who can tell me where to get the mapping layers that will make this software so useful and so much fun to use is gone for a long weekend.

Ahhh, well. Been years waiting. I can wait until Tuesday.

I was interrupted late in the morning by barking heelers. The UPS man, with a two-box delivery.

Youngest son's much awaited new AlienWare laptop.

At lunch I ask the wife if he's planning on coming home this weekend.

"I doubt it. Not with this wind and weather."

"And besides, he doesn't know it's here, yet."

Around three o'clock, roughly 75 minutes after his last university class of the Friday afternoons, I again hear barking heelers.

Yes, you guessed it. Youngest son. Thrilled to see his heeler.

And totally unsurprised to see the UPS boxes.

Apparently, young American males can smell new technology from a hundred miles away...

(Actually, he'd been monitoring the packages online since they were shipped. I suspect he knew they were delivered to our door even before the heelers did.)

So our Friday evening was spent going through his DVDs of hundreds of photos from Russia.

On his new laptop.

Would love to steal one or two to post here...

But that would be wrong.

So here's one of mine, from earlier this month.

And so to bed... dreaming of yet another weekend of sitting along a busy highway.

Cutting deer throats.
