wednesday's meeting

Another shot from yesterday morning, from the McCargar place.

Not much to say about today's meeting. Pleasant, predictable meeting.

The group has another Triple Ruby now (no, not me). He kept looking at his 30-year plaque and pin all through the meeting. One of my neighbors commented the fellow was probably going to have the thing bronzed.

Me, I suspect it will be the last 5-year service award he will receive. Hence the nostalgic looks.

And the group has two new female members, bringing us to a total of three in the meeting. One of whom is reportedly a former professional football cheerleader.

Really.

The one who cut me off on the highway as I was driving into town for the meeting.

Yeah. I mentioned it.

And apparently it is a Wednesday custom in that office for folks to bring afternoon treats to share. Today was homebaked apple cobbler made from homegrown apples, and a lemon cake. With homemade ice cream made largely with whipped cream.

The ice cream was really good spooned into coffee.

Two other items of note...

First, the new decals that absolutely had to be displayed on each and every tailgate in the outfit, under penalty of administrative torture from one of the Central City bosses?

A fellow checked the parking lot at one of the coffee/pee breaks.

Only two trucks were missing the decals (mine went on Saturday).

The local number one boss's truck...

And the Central City boss's truck.

Yeah. He mentioned it in the meeting.

And secondly, one of the new gals was first in line at the restaurant to order her meal. At a place where you sit outside, and the servers bring your meal out, calling by name.

Yet half of us were done eating, and the late arrivers (like me) half done, while she had yet to receive her burger from the kitchen.

She finally went to the kitchen to complain.

While she was gone, the boss's burger finally came out. And was set down next to the one he had already half eaten.

Yeah. The boss stole her lunch. Even though their names don't sound that similar. He had even sent it back to the kitchen because it wasn't made the way he ordered it.

Ummm, no, it was made the way she ordered it...

But hey, what can you say when you're the new guy in town, and it's the boss who stole your lunch?

Much of the rest of lunch conversation dealt with possible new names we could give her to prevent such mishaps in the future.

Oh, and hey...

For the first time in memory, Harry Potter came up in conversation during one of the breaks. And the dam burst loose. It was like nobody was willing to admit they read the books or saw the films, until someone else did. Then we all had something to say.

That was right before they started passing a handgun around in the hall so folks could feel the new grip on it. (The grip has thirty line per inch. That's important, it seems.)
