fireworks display We were actually a little surprised when the fireworks show began. Yes, all the lightning was still dancing on the Pacific side of the Divide, not over here. But still. Would you go stand in the middle of a bunch of explosives when lightning is dancing around? 'Course, it may be that someone figured we're a whole lot safer if we shoot those things off, rather than leave them in their tubes... So, I had fun. 'Course, half the fun was listening to the two young girls in the family parked next to us. (Who, it turns out, the wife knew. Small town, you know.) The innocent "ooohs", "ahhhs" and "Wow!s" of youth. Been too long since we sat with little ones at fireworks. We're still trying to figure out where to park with the new launching site for the show. Behind the theater is pretty good. And close. Just unfortunate that the storms changed the wind's direction from west, which would have brought the smoke, and smells straight to us, to almost due north. Nice show. No aromatic experience. Nor memories. Besides proximity, there was another advantage to this new parking spot. We could weave through back streets all the way to the interstate. Get through one 4-way stop, and then traffic was gone. Unlike all the poor souls on the other side of the show. |
