the bridge at rocky crossing

Being along the Transcontinental Railroad, it isn't too surprising many old railroad cars once found new utility as bridges. Like this one at Rocky Crossing.

But most of these train car bridges have been replaced over the years. They were great during the era of Model-Ts, but maybe not so much in the era of dual-axle pickups.

As I opted for this route home this morning (the long route, naturally), I wondered how I would find this bridge. It's been here as long as I have, and was old when I first saw it. With the gas fields finally reaching it, it has probably had more traffic in the past two to three years than in all the decades it sat out here before.

The boards on top didn't look that promising, so I stopped to check the steel structure below.

Guess I wasn't the first.

And yes, as usual, the ravens were there.

For the usual reason.
