driving plans

It's time for the next term to start. Youngest son's original plan was to drive to University Town on Friday.

Blizzard three of this winter's triad (at least, we hope it's only a triad) kinda killed that plan. Although, Friday afternoon was warm, windy and clear.

Here, anyway.

As he reported after a trip to town, all was clouds and blowing snow to the East. And yeah, they had a blizzard.

So, today was his back-up date.

They closed the interstate. Again.

No storm, no, but ice and white-outs of blowing snow. They closed all four highways into University Town.

Craaap.

But we're glad he didn't try to go.

He was bummed. So much so that he and I ate half the chocolate chip cookies that I baked on Friday for him to take to college.

Plan C?

The current forecast is for the winds to quit around midnight (Huh. That's now, isn't it?), and then resume around noon.

A brief window of opportunity between sunrise and noon.

'Course, he wants us to escort him there in our SUV, and maybe help buy supplies for the next five months. Parents are great for money, you know. But mainly, to have a 4WD vehicle to follow.

But that means we would need to hit the highway for home by 11 o'clock to avoid the winds and white-outs.

So, that's our plan for tomorrow. Depending on what the websites and highway cams show us tomorrow morning. Which is coming much too soon.

So, to bed.

(Leaving you with a picture shot off the cuff as we dipped down to runway 22 for our landing on Wednesday.)
