So. 2006 has ended.

Not the greatest year so far, but if you look at it, in most cases, where something went wrong, or bad...

It could easily have been much worse. So maybe we should file it under "average year", and not jinx 2007.

Our celebration?

Well, the wife finally made it clear she wanted to turn down the invitation we had received to a New Year's party. Been to a couple of these, and they were all fun. But wife just wanted to stay home. Keep it quiet.

Add to that, youngest son had no plans other than being with us, and eldest son chose this evening to bring by his new girlfriend for her first sit-down visit.

So yeah, we stayed home.

A late night meal of shrimp, crackers, sausage and cheese, and sparkling grape juice.

After midnight, the new couple headed off to her home, where they could get "real bubbly", instead of the fake stuff.

The heelers thought this idea of having a fourth meal in the day is a great one.

Presumably they think we should do this every night, now.

And we started 2007 off standing in the quiet living room, no one ready for bed, visiting with youngest son. One of those really pleasant conversations that have become so rare since he entered college.

Followed by the tail end of a Steven Seagal movie that youngest had never seen, and Star Gate Atlantis.

And so to bed.
