swan-less

Wow.

How often does something like this sneak up on you?

Unfortunately, I didn't read that little news blurb until ten-thirty tonight. By 10:45 I was parked by the little kiosk five miles north of town.

Car's thermometer said 33 degrees. Cold with the window down.

Skies were less than ideal. Thin wisps of clouds passing quickly from west to east. Every star out there looked like a blurry comet at some time or another. But I eventually got a good enough look at the entire western sky, and had to conclude...

No green Comet Swan for me.

At least, not tonight. We have a few days nights of opportunities, yet.

They say 8 PM is best for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere.
