a long, profitable day

The opening day of the desert elk hunt. Most of the hunters I came across did well.

Of course, one may be free to wonder why, two hours and forty-one minutes after I took that picture, I was taking the one below...

And two hours and fifty-two minutes later, I was back out in the desert, taking this one.

Yeah. Long, busy day. Over 500 images worth.

Tired heelers.

As the warden and I sat on the divide, waiting for any last hunters to come out, I alternated between talking to him (sitting warmly in his truck while I stood outside in the 34 degree wind), and taking pictures of the sunset behind me.

"Why take so many pictures when nobody ever looks at them?" he asked.

"Nobody's going to pay you money for a picture of that sunset."

Which is true.

Enjoy it, just the same.
