colours on the divide Yet another elk flight. I haven't been able to find a happy compromise yet. Since we're not actually trying to see these collared elk, it doesn't make much difference for the data what time of the day we fly. So, I'm free to decide. Early mornings are best for shadows and glowing trees. But throws the sun into the plane, giving all pictures a bluish cast from the plexiglass windows, or worse, reflections from the inside of the cabin. Midday flights reduce blue casts and reflections, but then the light is flat on the ground, too. Need a plane with a window you can open... Brrrr. So. There's another draft entry hidden away, awaiting processing of images. (417 in 77 minutes. Really. And I missed so many.) So. Here's one to tide you over: The Continental Divide, with coloured aspen on the Atlantic side and ancient ash from the Yellowstone caldera capping the divide. Where five of our elk are still hanging out. |
