expensive laundry

I've been debating putting this entry up for a while, but we're all adults, here, right?

I suspect many who get their news off the internet have heard about the New Zealander who was auctioning off her bikini on the Kiwis' equivalent of eBay (www.trademe.co.nz). An item made more marketable because she got caught and arrested for streaking through the international rugby match between The Blacks and Ireland wearing just it and her running shoes.

She needed the auction money to pay her legal fees.

Being curious, I was only moderately surprised to find there were kiwi men of the same mind as I, who had to ask...

Is it washed?

Her response? It would be "fresh from the field."

After that reply, the bids soared up from the $800 range, and last I noted, had reached $5,000 (which national currency this is I do not know, but that's still a lot).

The streaker showed incredible patience and tolerance in all the other comments she received, in the hundreds. Kiwis apparently can bite and snip when they're in the mood (and in winter). You can see for yourself at the auction, just search for "streaker" and "bikini". Wife and I enjoyed many of the comments, and some of the "dumb blonde" jokes that were thrown in.

Then some of the southern hemisphere's morality police pointed out to her that the auction site's rules required clothing be thoroughly washed before sale. A change that she properly noted in her auction...

"**Please note: This bikini HAS been washed**"

Bids were apparently withdrawn, and the price promptly dropped to $1,200.

That was a darn expensive load of laundry.

(Good news is, the auction finally closed back up at $4,010. Should cover her $200 fine and then some.)
