an evening route This evening's pronghorn classification route takes us through a variety of landscapes. Starts off typically enough, as you would expect for a pronghorn route, in sagebrush and saltbush prairie, surrounded by rocky rims. It was here the first dragrace of the day took place. And the first Grouse Pic. The route takes us along the Transcontinental Railroad, where I get to wave at the engineers... until it drops down into a river bottom. Then I get to look for pronghorn amidst the 19th century ruins, including the old bridge and powderhouse. Then we're classifying along the interstate... and around industrial plants. Including this herd less than a mile from home. Then we're back out into the prairie, where the mosquitoes enjoy munching on us whilst I enjoy the sunset. Then it's down into woodlands and yes, onto a golf course. (Notice the pronghorn bedded on the next fairway behind Mike.) And, finally, backtracking along the river to get home. |
