escargot

Mmmmm.

Calamari.

We've never had that particular appetizer at this restaurant before.

'Course for me, it was like only the third time I've ever been there, in over twenty years.

The calamari was good. Not Olive Garden good, but good. And not like that Italian restaurant in Teton Village that serves theirs with heads and tentacles attached.

Apparently I am the only one in our family who likes squid cooked that way.

And everything else was superb, too. Especially the raspberry/chocolate cheesecake dessert.

This feast was totally unplanned, but eldest son's girlfriend got a new job today.

Her second in a week.

That's the job market in a boom town. If you're not willing or able to work in the gas field for gas field wages, there are tons (well, okay, dozens) of jobs waiting for you in town.

So she got to politely back out of job number two (she already has one) in order to take job number three.

A better job.

So, the four of us dressed up and celebrated. At the most expensive place in town. (Who also has trouble keeping staff. Even with their prices and tips, it's hard to compete with the gas field.) But food was great, service was great, the company great.

But while this is the "classiest" place in town, you have to remember...

Everything is relative.

Wife and I arrived first, and had fun picking out the misspellings in their fancy menu. I can't even remember them now, but they were good. And we're not talking typos, here, folks.

Just simple western folk who know how to cook and how to present a wide variety of delicacies, but aren't too good on the non-English spellings.

But now, hours later, the only one I remember was one of the appetizers.

"Es Cargo".

And no, they're not trying to be cute.
