loafing morning

The wife received her new bed last weekend, but she had yet to laze in it on any morning. So that was her expressed wish for today. To simply stay in our new, comfortable, warm, soft, uncrowded bed for as long as possible.

Well, other than the heelers waking her up around 01:00, and again around 05:30, she got her wish.

Sort of.

If you don't count the pilot waking us both up with his call at 08:30, returning my calls from yesterday. Advising, yes, we could fly elk this morning, but he spent most of yesterday in the air on a search and rescue (end result, two lives saved, one not) and needed to fly to California yet today. So we decided to bag it until he returns next week. I then tried reading the Saturday papers, but finally turned the light off and rolled back to sleep, under the glaring stares of three heelers and the wife still trying to sleep with a cover over her eyes.

And then there was the kids at the door selling struddle as a school fund raiser. And youngest son coming home for a shower and change of clothes (after another night of D&D and video games).

So the morning in bed wasn't uninterrupted, but it lasted until noon.

And she wasn't the only one who enjoyed the half day of loafing.
