another flag

There is a flag flying off our porch today.

Another red, white and blue banner. But not in the expected pattern.

It's not really the flag I wanted there. The auction for that one went way too high. Not too high for me to want to pay, but too high for me to want to explain to the wife.

But this is a respectable banner, as well, and today is the right day to fly it. With its unique silhouette of a wild, North American member of the Bovidae. With that stupid state seal branded on its side.

Perhaps Whinybutt knows why it is flying today.

It is not a perfect flag to look at. The far edge is badly tattered, trailing loose threads and worn down to the blue in the corners. It is actually slated for retirement, a banner presented to our youth group as being too worn for proper service.

But it will fly at least one more day, today.
