fall is here There was chill in the air last night, and this morning it was downright cold. A local at the Ford dealership said his thermometer was at 35 degrees this morning. (That's Fahrenheit, folks.) Been spitting rain most of the day. The furnace actually kicked on this afternoon! Youngest son had pushed it up to 60 degrees, so I knocked it back down to 50. And also closed down a couple windows. Little maskless heeler was curled in a tight little ball in her recliner. Didn't object when I slipped a comforter over her butt and back. It's still raining/drizzling. Supposed to get down to freezing tonight. We may have snow in the morning. That should make the opening weekend for antelope area 62 interesting. Hunting antelope is actually more fun in the snow, I think, so long as you're prepared for it. Bet most of our nonresidents are not. Some of our residents may not be. I get stunned silences of disbelief when I warn nonresidents they should come prepared for both 90-degree weather and snow. In September, we could have either one from one day to the next. Guess I better go pack my winter check station gear into the truck. If you're passing by, here is where I will be. Sunrise to sunset, all weekend. |
